Artist Statement

Alan Simmons is a digital artist based in northwest Arkansas. His work exists at the intersection of technology and creativity, using digital tools to craft detailed visual experiences. The addition of details is paramount, as it affords him an opportunity for deep focus that is as much meditative as it is artistic.

As someone with both ADHD and autism, his mind is almost always in a state of chaos, like a huge wall of TVs all playing different stations at once. When he creates, all of that noise and chaos falls away and the only thing on his mind is the piece he’s working on. And in a world that, to him, often seems entirely out of order, his art allows him to create order of his own.

Simmons wants each of his pieces to be more than just an image; he wants them to be an exploration. His hope is that the viewer will slow down long enough to notice the unnoticed. His goal is to give viewers the same deep meditative focus in exploring the piece that he had in drawing it. At its core, his work is about finding his own peace and sharing it with others.
